Chapter Five: The Casino in Myanmar (3)
They were talking.
The young woman from the Zhousheng family came into the casino carrying her younger son.
The little boy had seen Nan Bei several times these past few days and was especially fond of her. He lifted the beaded curtain with great seriousness and came in, then patted Nan Bei on the leg. She smiled and lifted the little boy onto the table.
“My father said that just now, you caused some unpleasantness over a Burmese girl?”
The four- or five-year-old boy spoke with quite an air of importance.
“Yes,” Nan Bei said, giving Cheng Muyang a subtle smile as she pinched the little boy’s nose. “What else did your father say?”
The little boy shrugged. “Father said that the younger generation nowadays doesn’t really understand the rules.”
Nan Bei laughed. “Word for word?”
“Word for word,” the little boy said. “I remembered it carefully so I could come and tell you.”
Nan Bei took his hand into her palm and told him, “Jiejie will tell you some interesting things.”
The little boy nodded, holding his little face up as he looked at her.
“In the mainland, there are many, many prisons, and there are lots of bad people inside. But you know, even bad people have different ranks.” Nan Bei coaxed him softly. “The lowest-ranking bad people have to serve others, or be treated as punching bags for other people’s anger.”
“Then,” the little boy frowned, “how do they distinguish between the ranks?”
“Those who bully women and are sentenced to prison are the lowest-ranking, because people see men who bully women as the weaklings among men.”
“Bully women?”
Nan Bei pointed at Cheng Muyang. “For example, he really likes jiejie and wants to kiss jiejie, but jiejie doesn’t agree, and yet he insists on kissing her. That’s what it means.”
Cheng Muyang raised his brows slightly and smiled silently.
“So, remember what jiejie told you.” Nan Bei lightly scraped the little boy’s nose with her finger. “Never bully the weak. Never bully women. If someone goes against your principles, don’t go easy on him, because every single person around us is a thoroughly terrible person.”
After she said this, even the little boy’s mother laughed, repeatedly praising her for finding such a clever way to teach him.
The woman really did look very young. Nan Bei casually exchanged a few words with her and was surprised to discover that she was actually younger than herself, only nineteen years old. It was just that she dressed very traditionally and was carrying a son, which made her seem more mature.
The two of them soon left the casino.
Cheng Muyang’s room was at the very end of the fifth-floor corridor. His hand was much larger than hers, and he held hers tightly. From the moment they stepped out of the elevator, the two of them had been kissing constantly. His hand had just killed someone for her tonight, and had even potentially brought unnecessary trouble upon her.
She thought that she seemed to owe him a great deal.
But when he turned the doorknob, she slipped inside first.
Cheng Muyang closed the door behind him and reached for the wall lamp switch, only to touch her hand.
The curtains in the room were all blackout curtains. Even though it was the afternoon, the room was still pitch-black and indistinct. All of their senses seemed to be heightened several times over. With one hand, he pulled her into his arms.
“Beibei.”
“Shh.” Nan Bei spoke softly. “Don’t talk. Let me talk.”
He fell silent.
“Who am I?”
“Nan Bei.”
“How did we meet?”
“On the E40 highway in Belgium. We were sitting together in the back seat of the car, and then,” Cheng Muyang answered her questions in a low voice, following the direction of her questioning, “you got out of the car alone to avoid me, but ran into a gunfight. After that, I rescued you.”
“Who was trying to avoid you?” Nan Bei was caught between laughter and tears.
“Wasn’t it?” Cheng Muyang’s hand slid down her back and supported her waist. “Think again.”
He really was very clever.
From the very beginning, every time she had avoided him, every time she had stepped back, he had seen it all clearly.
“All right, all right.” Nan Bei moved closer to him and looked into his eyes. “Remember, I am Nan Bei. We met in Belgium. When I’m with you, I am not Nan Bei of Wanding. I never will be.”
She spoke very vaguely, but her meaning was perfectly clear.
I like you. I am with you. But I do not represent the interests of my entire family.
“To me, you have never represented Wanding.” Cheng Muyang lowered his head. “I only know the Nan Bei who owed me gambling debts just now. And the Nan Bei whose arm was hit by a bullet and who cried herself into a complete mess.”
“Cheng Muyang...”
Nan Bei swung her arm across, wanting to knock him away, but unexpectedly he caught her elbow with one hand. His control was so precise that it merely neutralized her force without hurting her.
She could even feel the searing heat of his palm.
“How much hardship did you endure when you were little?” His hand slid down and caught hers, his five fingers interlocking with hers as he pressed her arm against the wall. He began kissing her forehead and cheeks, again and again, telling her softly, “You can get hurt just from being out on the surface of a lake for a few hours. You cry when you’re shot. If I were your older brother, I wouldn’t have the heart to let you learn these things.”
“That was the first time,” Nan Bei said softly. “I didn’t know it would hurt that much. And back then, my older brother had been out of contact for so long. I thought he was dead.”
It was strange.
She had cried so wantonly that time. Perhaps it was because she was in Belgium. Back then, she was not Nan Bei. She was not her true self.
Perhaps without Nan Huai, she really would no longer be herself.
“Beibei?”
“Mm.”
He kissed her lips intermittently, stoking the desire between them. “Beibei?”
She answered with another soft “Mm,” her cheeks burning.
“Beibei?”
Cheng Muyang called her name for the third time.
His voice was low and lingering.
She closed her eyes and gave a quiet, “Mm.”
From the very beginning, ever since he first began calling her name, he had always been accustomed to repeatedly seeking her response. Whether it was her gaze or her answering voice, it was as though he kept asking for confirmation, again and again, as if she were something he had lost and found once more.
It was strange.
Yet it gave her a sense of fulfillment, of being needed.
In the darkness, they leaned against the wall and kissed each other.
His hands made it impossible for her to escape any longer. Those same hands that had fired a gun for her tonight slipped gently beneath her shirt, lingering over her breasts and lower abdomen. Cheng Muyang braced one leg against the wall, leaving the other suspended, allowing her to sit securely on his thigh. His fingers sank deeply into her body without the slightest hesitation.
She was confused, in pain. Yet the pain was not too intense. It was like a fire had been kindled inside her. She bit down hard on Cheng Muyang’s shoulder, trying not to let herself moan, but he knew all her thoughts. He slowly licked her ear.
“Does it hurt?”
Nan Bei answered softly.
Suddenly, there came a faint, muddled metallic sound.
Cheng Muyang’s hand left her body. He fished the small silver flask from his trouser pocket, twisted off the cap with his teeth, and suddenly tipped a large mouthful into his own mouth. Nan Bei looked at him in confusion, until he pinched her chin with his wet fingers and poured the entire mouthful of liquor into her mouth.
The strong smell of alcohol made her cough until tears streamed down her face.
“Bastard.”
“Keep cursing.” He poured another large mouthful of liquor into her mouth, tangling his tongue with hers and leaving her unable to breathe.
“Cheng Muyang, you bastard, you complete and utter bastard...”
With a ripping sound, all the buttons across her chest burst open. His palm had already retraced its former path, but there was no tenderness this time. The strong taste of alcohol spread through both their mouths. “Keep cursing.”
The amusement in his voice grew stronger.
He was a complete and utter bastard. Yet she was utterly unable to resist him.
Just having their upper bodies pressed so tightly together, rubbing against each other without the slightest gap, had already tormented her until she was barely conscious.
In the end, he finally removed all her clothes, lifting her entire body with one arm as he undid his own trousers. At the same time, he switched on the curtains, yet his kisses never stopped.
Nan Bei kept her eyes closed, feeling light fill the entire room.
In a daze, she bit his lips. “No, turn, turn on the light.” His room faced directly toward the swimming pool. If anyone happened to appear at this moment, they would certainly see the most intimate of scenes.
“There’s no one. There are people keeping watch outside.” Cheng Muyang coaxed her softly. “Beibei, open your eyes.”
It was daylight, not lamplight.
So it really was warm, a scorching kind of warmth.
She narrowed her eyes and looked at him through her blurred vision. Those brown eyes were filled with desire, beautiful to the point of seeming unreal. She had never told him that the first time she saw his eyes, she thought he was a clean-cut boy.
Cold, yet kind.
The sweat that kept streaming down glued their skin together.
With his back to the glaring sunlight, Cheng Muyang placed both her arms over his shoulders, lifted her legs, and before entering her, used his lips to seal away her moan.
“Hold me tight,” he pleaded hoarsely, his voice low. “Beibei, hold me tight.”
For a long time, he held her tightly, quietly waiting for her to grow accustomed to him.
His body trapped every one of her thoughts. Nan Bei could not break free and could only slowly adapt.
Adapt to the movements that tore through her, being penetrated again and again through both body and consciousness. Pain spread through her veins. The liquor, more than sixty degrees strong, left her without the strength to struggle, and her body softened beneath his continued possession.
Throughout the entire process, Cheng Muyang watched her quietly and intently, his hand never leaving her body. Sweat continuously streamed from both their bodies, dripping onto the floor. The two of them moved from the hallway to the bed. Beneath his body, she twisted and turned, her waist bending at an unbelievable angle as she endured every withdrawal and entry.
“I missed you so much.”
He breathed heavily, and at the very end, pressed his lips against her tightly closed eyes. “I’ve always missed you.”
The blazing sun scorched her. Amid the disordered bed, the two of them reached their climax at the same time.
His liquor had truly gotten her drunk.
In the end, she only vaguely felt him carry her into the bathroom and wash her beneath the stream of the shower. His long, slender fingers cleaned her meticulously from top to bottom.
“I’m thirsty...” Nan Bei rubbed herself against his body.
Cheng Muyang’s hand was supporting her waist. Because of her movement, his body reacted again.
“Thirsty...”
“You want some water?”
“Mhm.”
“We’ll have some after we finish washing, okay?”
“Thirsty.”
The liquor was too strong, and she was already severely dehydrated.
Especially under the running water, where she could hear and touch the very thing she craved.
She had never known that, in such a state, softly murmuring and acting coquettishly could hold such an immense temptation for Cheng Muyang. He placed her in the bathtub, then knelt halfway down and took her breast into his mouth.
“Cheng Muyang, thirsty.” Nan Bei patted his back, but when he suddenly increased his force, she drew a soft breath. “I want water. Water first, water first, then we can do it...”
She really was going to die of thirst.
Her black hair, reaching her waist, spilled across her chest and back. His fingers tangled themselves in her hair. Ignoring her protests, he parted her legs and once again thrust himself into her body.
Nan Bei moaned softly, her mouth and tongue dry, yet the fire in her heart was once again kindled by him.
In such a cramped space, she was practically curled into a ball, completely pressed beneath him in the bathtub, repeatedly gasping for breath. At last, unable to resist any longer, she turned her head to catch with her tongue the water spraying from the showerhead.
“Good girl, Beibei, good girl,” Cheng Muyang coaxed her in a hoarse voice as he repeatedly entered and withdrew. “Don’t drink.”
He turned her face toward him with his hand and used his lips to moisten her, his body never stopping.
By the time he had washed her clean and carried her to the bed, Nan Bei was already drunk enough to fall asleep in his arms. In her half-conscious state, Cheng Muyang stayed beside her for a very short while, giving her ice water three or four times. Yet when she woke, her mouth and throat were still parched.
There was no one in the room.
It was already dusk. The side of her face rested against the soft cotton bedsheet. Along the boundary where the sea seeped into the blue of the sky, the sun had not yet fallen. The scent of both their bodies filled her nose, still intense even after three or four hours.
Ever since she was born, she had known that some things could not be changed.
For example, if you were born into a special family, you had to understand that some circumstances could not be changed. Black was black, and it could never be washed white. Once you stepped into this world, once your name became something everyone feared, then a single furrow of your brow, a short sentence, could drag out the hatred of generations, ending only with death.
Perhaps what lay before her was merely a simple glass of water.
Yet its source was the blood of certain people.
At certain moments, Cheng Muyang was absolutely a gentle and clean person. She had once thought that he belonged only to that rainy country, to some laboratory, or perhaps to some scientific research project. She had never imagined that he belonged to this world.
The sunset over the sea came late. It was already approaching eight o’clock.
Tonight was the second round of the gamble. Everything that had happened during the day had been nothing more than an appetizer. Cheng Muyang should already be sitting on one side of the gambling table, facing the eldest son of the Shen family, or perhaps someone from the Zhousheng family.
Cheng Muyang.
Cheng Muyang.
When the sun finally sank below the horizon, her head was still somewhat heavy. She slowly sat up.
Night descended, and the gambling began. Perhaps she should go and take a look at Cheng Muyang sitting at the gambling table.
